Bruce Moallem I was surprised to learn that Joseph personally hand paints the background art for each copy. The packaging looks fantastic and perfectly sets the mood for the woodsy backdrop of the album. This is his most accomplished recording to date, it is an artist at the top of their game. Favorite track: A Funeral for a Friend.

nosluap Yet another great ambient release presented here. I love the juxtaposition of the ‘harsher’ sounds against a backdrop of softer more nature based sounds. Joseph has once again delivered a really great ambient experience. Favorite track: A Small Frog Hopping through a Pool of Blood.

‘The Autumnal End’ is a tribute to my favorite season and time of the year, as well as, the disappearing forest. Each and every day forests are leveled in favor of condos, shopping malls, grocery stores, and fucking Ikea’s. Life is devastated, homes are obliterated, and once beautiful and natural areas of this earth are paved over, and built to the skies without remorse or care for who and what was there originally. The Autumnal End is the story of that forest. The forest that was, but isn’t anymore. The album takes the listener from the onset of chaos, through the turmoil of the creatures that live there, and to those souls very death, and to the point where they rise up and take back what is rightfully their own. This is, The Autumnal End.

❤️My original plan was to go through and buy individual tracks like I do with most compilation albums, but honestly there are just so many good ones that I wound up buying the whole thing. More than simple drones (though there are plenty of those, too), this album collects many of the best and most innovative dark ambient artists in one place, including many who are new to me.
